Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma from the department of English Literature. In the year 1967, Mitchell started her job as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV situated in Washington DC (then WTOP). Two years later she became general correspondent for NBC News in Washington. Beginning in 1981, she began working for the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. She was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and was named chief foreign affairs correspondent at NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a host and panelist in the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell was part of the panel for 1988's presidential debates which pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for outstanding achievement in journalism. In 2004, The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering the White House in 1981-1988 for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news stories like arms control, taxes on the budget, as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went on various summits while in the company of the president Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
